IppyComms is a trading name of Ipswich Communications, the carriage-service arm of the Ipswich IT Services group — alongside IppyIT (business IT & MSP) and IppyCS (Ipswich Computer Service, residential & home-office repairs). One team, three brands, one after-hours number.

We watched too many of our managed-IT customers get burnt by 5-year handset leases and offshore support queues. So we built our own phone company.

Our story

Hosted PBX, the way we’d want it ourselves.

Ipswich IT Services started in 2018 doing business IT and MSP work as IppyIT, then added IppyCS in 2021 for residential and home-office repairs. IppyComms launched as the third brand in 2025 — same team, same Ipswich workshop — after one too many of our managed-IT customers asked us to rip out the legacy on-prem PBX their old reseller had locked them into.

The maths never worked. They were paying $50-$70 per user per month for features that haven’t materially changed in a decade, on top of $90/month per handset on a 60-month lease they didn’t even know they’d signed.

We built IppyComms on a hardened FusionPBX/FreeSWITCH core, hosted in Sydney + Brisbane, with proper Australian carrier interconnects. We pre-configure handsets in-house. We answer the support phone ourselves.

It’s the same kind of phone system the big telcos sell — minus the lock-in, the lease finance, and the 90-minute hold times.

Are you a reseller or a real carrier?
We run our own hardened FusionPBX/FreeSWITCH platform on Australian carrier interconnects (Telstra/Optus wholesale) and we’re an ACMA-registered carriage service provider — not a white-label reseller.
Where is my data stored?
In Australian data centres — Equinix Sydney and Melbourne, both SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified. Your data stays on-shore.
Who owns my call records and recordings?
You do. Export them any time and we delete them on request. It’s your data, not ours to lock up.
Are you Australian-owned?
Yes. We’re Ipswich-based and Australian-owned, part of the Ipswich IT Services group. Support is the same local team that runs our IT helpdesk.
Who answers if something breaks after hours?
A real Australian human on our 24/7 line — not an offshore script reader. The same team across all three brands.
How long have you been around?
The group started as IppyIT in 2018, added Ipswich Computer Service in 2021, and launched IppyComms in 2025.
